A public official from the northern town of Knezha has been caught taking a bribe of BGN 320 by Economic Police officers.

The 47-year-old woman demanded BGN 440 from an owner of an animal farm in order to sidestep the taking of a sample of raw milk for extending the categorization certificate of the dairy production unit.

On April 12, she accepted BGN 320 and the sum was found during a police search of her office.

The woman has been officially charged and will remain under arrest for 24 hours.

The prosecutor in charge of the case has requested a remand measure of custody from the Pleven District Court.

Work on the case continues.
