The Black Sea Naval Force (BLACKSEAFOR) started its regular spring drills from the Romanian port of Constanta.

Since August last year the operative command over the international group has been handed to Russian Navy representative captain Yuriy Zemskiy, with a flagship the large landing ship Caesar Kunikov.

Bulgarian ship Resolute, Romanian Sebastian, Turkish frigate Yavuz, and Ukrainian mine-sweeper also take part in the multilateral drills.

BLACKSEAFOR was created in 2001 under the leadership of Turkey in order to promote navy coordination and cooperation in the area of the Black Sea.
