Bulgaria's Rulers Mock Unity of Far-Right, Left-Wingers

The news that left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and far-right Ataka will both support a no-confidence motion has triggered ironic remarks on behalf of ruling centrist-right GERB.

GERB MPs have "wished well to the new coalition" between BSP leader Sergey Stanishev and Ataka's Volen Siderov, dnevnik.bg informs.

"We want to congratulate the leaders of the two parties for their future successful cooperation," GERB lawmaker Alexander Nenkov has commented.

On Thursday, it was made clear that the two parties will support a no-confidence vote triggered by the government's decision to scrap the Belene Nuclear Power Plant project.

It is already clear that the no-confidence vote is doomed, as all Parliamentary formations besides BSP and Ataka have declared they would not support it. A total of 121 votes are necessary for the no-confidence vote to pass, while BSP and Ataka are expected to gather a bit over 50.
