2 Charged with Murder of Bulgarian Football Fan Club Chief

Two people have been charged by the Prosecutor's Office in Bulgaria's southwestern city of Blagoevgrad with the murder of the Head of the local "Pirin" football team fan club.

They are identified as Spas Pokrovnishki, 50, and Hristo Hristov, 49, and are being kept behind bars for 72 hours, the local police informs Sunday.

Zlatan Georgiev AKA Zlatniya (The Golden), the first detainee, who was arrested during a spectacular police operation Friday, has been released after spending 24 hours behind bars. Georgiev has a criminal record and is known as the right hand of the underworld boss in the region Georgi Kochev – Bibi.

Dimitar Sukalinski, 41, AKA Banskaliyata (from Bansko) was found dead inside his apartment in Blagoevgrad in a pond of blood and multiple stab wounds. Police say that he has been murdered around 9 pm Thursday evening, and died from a knife stabbing.

Over 300 people attended Sunday Sukalinski's funeral in Blagoevgrad, among them football bosses and fans, friends and relatives.

Meanwhile, also on Sunday, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, firmly declined commenting on the case for the media.
