Bulgaria's ambassador to Poland Ivan Naydenov has been appointed Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of European affairs, the government announced.

Naydenov will replace Konstantin Dimitrov, who headed earlier this month for London as the new ambassador there.

Ivan Naydenov is a diplomat with long experience in foreign policy, the government said.

He served as personal representative of OSCE President during the term of Bulgaria's presidency. In the period 1998 - 2002 he was Bulgaria's permanent representative at the offices of the UN and other international organizations in Vienna.

Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantin Dimitrov was appointed as the country's new Ambassador to London at the end of January in a major diplomatic reshuffle that aimed to replace many envoys exposed as former Communist State Security agents.

Another Deputy Foreign Minister, Dimitar Tsanchev, was appointed Permanent Representative to EU, but it is still not clear who will take over his job.
