Bulgaria's Sofia Municipality will spend around BGN 1M on the creation of an information system for waste management.

The deadline for bid submission is 4 p.m. on April 19, according to information provided in the Public Procurement Register.

The public procurement has not been announced on the website of the Sofia municipality.

The smart system will collect, store and process primary data on waste from the point of generation to the point of disposal.

The database will keep track of the collection, separation, storage, transportation, recycling and disposal of household and construction waste.

The system will also monitor the winter and the summer street maintenance and will process the data concerning the cleaning, washing and sweeping of the streets so as to ensure daily oversight of the activities and to allow an optimization of the processes.

The waste management information system will  be connected to the integrated information system of the Sofia municipality.

The waste management platform is to be completed within six months of the signing of the contract, which is expected to happen by the end of 2012.

The contractor will be selected on the basis of the economically most profitable bid.

The projected value of the public procurement is BGN 833 333, VAT excluded.
