A large number of live fish came out of the pipe of the fountain on the central "Zheravitsa" square in Bulgaria's northwestern city of Montana Thursday.
The fish started gushing from the pipe when the fountain was turned on with the arrival of the warmer weather and the sight brought many curious passers-by. Municipal employees are quoted saying that this is a first such occurrence in decades.
It is assumed that because of low temperatures in the winter, the fish were hiding in the deep waters of the nearby "Ogosta" dam, where the pipes leading to the fountain are located. When the fountain was switched on, the fish were sucked in the pipes.
The Montana City Hall informed that the fish will not be chased away, but will be kept as an attraction for residents and visitors.
