Bulgaria's national flag carrier Bulgaria Air presented Wednesday evening its latest acquisition, the Embraer E 190 jet.

The aircraft, made in Brazil, has 108 seats – 100 in economy and 8 in business class.

Bulgaria Air is to receive a total of nine Embraer jets, three of them by October 2012.

The Minister of Transport, Ivaylo Moskovski, praised the company for investing in times of crisis, and joked that he was glad the plane has enough seats in economy class, because the ministers planned to use it, but are banned from traveling in business class.

The CEO of Bulgaria Air, Yanko Georgiev, also voiced satisfaction with the new acquisition. He outlined briefly the history of the national flag career since its establishment in 2002 as heir of the State company Balkan, through the reaffirming of market positions and the purchase of new aircraft, until 2008, when the career became a full-pledged member of the International Air Transport Association.

The new plane was advertised as the culmination point of the program to renew the company's flight park. The Embraer is known for lower fuel expenses and gives the company the opportunity to offer new destinations and more flights.

The Brazilian ambassador to Bulgaria Washington Luis Perreira de Sousa, who attended the ceremony, said he hoped Bulgaria Air would like the new plane so much that it would replace all of its craft with Embraer E 190.
