Valentin Nikolov, a Member of Parliament from Bulgaria's ruling center-right party GERB, is Bulgaria's new Deputy Economy Minister.

The 40-year-old Nikolov, who has been a Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Group of the GERB party and a Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, is taking over the job after its prior holder, Delyan Dobrev, has been approved as Bulgaria's new Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism.

The reshuffle in the Borisov Cabinet has come up after the sacking of Economy Minister Traicho Traikov, following a scandal during the visit of a Bulgarian government delegation to Qatar last week.

Nikolov is expected to be in charge of energy policy at the Economy Minister which features a total of four deputy minister positions.

Reports say one of Traikov's aides, current deputy minister in charge of the economy, Dimitar Chohadzhiev, is expected to be sacked as part of the internal reshuffle in the Economy Ministry.

Others slated for sacking are the Economy Ministry PR official Dimitrina Hristeva and the minister's adviser on marketing and advertising Alexandra Lang, dealing with notorious public procurement tenders for Bulgaria's promotion abroad.
