Reneta Indzhova, who served as Bulgarian Prime Minister between October 1994 and January 1995, will head her country's National Statistical Institute, it has been announced.

Indzhova will replace Mariana Kotseva, who was selected as Deputy Chair of Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, at the end of 2011.

Kotseva will assume her new position in April.

Reneta Indzhova, 58, was head of Bulgaria's Privatization Agency (1992–1994), prior to heading a caretaker government after the collapse of Lyuben Berov's cabinet. She is the first woman – and still the only one – to have ever served as Bulgarian Prime Minister.

According to recent reports, Indzhova has been unemployed over the past year.
