The same .45 caliber weapon has been used in deadly shootings that have shaken France in recent days, according to French police.

A paratrooper out of uniform was shot dead in a residential area of Toulouse just over a week ago, while two soldiers were killed and a third wounded as they used a cash machine in the nearby town of Montauban Thursday. All three - of North African and Caribbean origin - were shot by a man on a scooter.

The latest incident occurred Monday morning at the Ozar Hatorah jewish school in Toulouse, after gunman opened fire on people waiting at a school drop-off point and then fled on a motorbike, killing a 30-years old teacher and three children aged 6, 3 and 10.

On Friday, the Prosecutor of Toulouse announced that the probe had established that the bullet from the first murder in Toulouse came from the same caliber weapon that was also used in the Montauban shootings.

The similarities between the murders have prompted the Prosecutor's Office in Paris to merge the three investigations into a probe of murder and attempted murder in a case of terrorism.
