A car bomb exploded Sunday in Syria's largest city Aleppo, killing 2 persons and wounding another 30, according to local sources.

This is the second bomb attack in Syria around the anniversary of the uprising against President Bashar Al-Assad regime, after car bombs in capital Damascus Saturday claimed 27 lives and injured at least 140 people.

A Syrian rights organization, as well as official agency SANA reported that the Aleppo blast Sunday went of right at the heart of a residential district.

The car-bombs in the Damascus attacks Saturday went off in two populated areas, in front of a criminal police office, as well as in front of the headquarters of the Syrian air force.

The Syrian government has decried the attacks, saying they confirmed yet again that the armed rebels in the country, which it claims are armed by external forces, are resorting to terrorist violence.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has also condemned the attack, calling on all sides to immediately discontinue all violence.

For a year now, Syria has been grappled by unrest, initially aimed at democratic reforms by the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad, and now calling for his ousting.
