The Chair of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Desislava Atanasova, will be Bulgaria's new Health Minister.

The news Atanasova is to become the fourth individual to head the institution since the beginning of the term of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, was reported Friday by Darik radio.

According to the Darik report, Borisov had introduced her and the new Economy and Energy Minister, Delyan Dobrev, to President, Rosen Plevneliev, during the political consultations.

Atanasova's name has been circulating for a while as a possible replacement for Health Minister, Stefan Konstantinov, who resigned Thursday evening.

According to unconfirmed reports, the Head of the Parliamentary Budget Committee, Menda Stoyanova, will be the new Director of the National Health Insurance Fund, NZOK. The post became vacant after the resignation of Neli Nesheva amidst a scandal with the huge bonuses her and her subordinates have received.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, speaking in an interview for the State TV BNT, explained Konstantinov's resignation with the following words:

"It was difficult for me to accept his resignation, because he is an honest person, but he managed to get into fights with everyone and I ended up being his last fan."

He informed that Konstantinov had deposited his resignation as early as March 13, and that his ideas about reducing prices of medications came too late.
