Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov has admitted it hurts to be little more than a bit-part player in Manchester United's Premier League title quest - but is ready and willing to make an impact when required.

"It's sad and it's painful but you need to be strong and be prepared for when your team-mates need your help," the forward has told United Review.

"We are a team and we want to win together."

Meanwhile, it has been reported that some 60% of Liverpool fans would like their favorite team to have Dimitar Berbatov, according to a poll allegedly conducted on the club's largest fan site.

The poll was triggered by a statement made by former Liverpool captain Mark Lawrenson. In an article for The Liverpool Post, Lawrenson said that the club needs to buy a suitable striker who can play alongside Luis Suarez.

"Suarez is the best 'wriggler' in the Premier League, the best at working himself space inside the area. It's crying out for someone else to be sniffing around alongside Suarez in the box. Even someone like Dimitar Berbatov would be the perfect foil for the Uruguayan," Lawrenson wrote.
