Bulgaria's Health Minister, Stefan Konstantinov, will be axed unless he starts coping with his job, the country's PM Boyko Borisov declared on Monday.

The Prime Minister revealed that the MPs from his ruling center-right GERB party have assessed Konstantinov as his cabinet's weakest member.

According to Borisov, Konstantinov has two major flaws – he does not act in advance in order to prevent problems from occurring and he leaves it to others to correct his mistakes. The Health Minister has just several days left to prove his worth, Borisov said.

In an interview for the private Btv channel, the Prime Minister expressed his disappointment over the fact that Konstantinov has not paid attention to the increasing medication prices earlier.

"If he is not coping, he will be substituted," Borisov stated.

Upon asked whether the money from the increased medication prices goes to a GERB "black box" of secret funds, the Prime Minister replied that there was definitely no such thing.

"I swear on my life," he said.

Borisov already dismissed Deputy Health Minister Gergana Pavlova on the grounds that she had failed to explain the pharmaceutical pricing policy.

Last Thursday, the Prime Minister announced that he has ordered several inspections that would determine whether Konstantinov was aware of the problem with drug prices were and if he was obliged to be aware of it.

If Konstantinov is fired over the medication prices scandal, the Prime Minister will have to appoint a fourth Health Minister in the course of less than three years.
