Bulgaria does not intend to engage in a confrontation with the Netherlands over the country's decision to block its Schengen Accession once again, Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov has declared.

"I met with the Dutch Ambassador a couple of days ago and what he thanked us for is that there was in fact no change in our cooperation in the sphere of security, since we are working extremely well together on common projects," Tsvetanov told the Bulgarian National Television on Friday.

"The national mechanism for combating human trafficking was established thanks to our Dutch partners," he pointed out.

According to Tsvetanov, Bulgaria and Romania have covered the Schengen entry requirements and "from now on everything depends on a Dutch political party that opposes our membership." The Interior Minister referred to the far-right Dutch PVV party of Geert Wilders.

On Thursday, Dutch PM Mark Rutte explained that The Hague wants to see positive reports of the European Commission under the Verification and Monitoring Mechanism as evidence and a fact Bulgaria and Romania are doing everything necessary.

On Friday, it was made clear that no decision on Bulgaria and Romania's bids to enter the Schengen Agreement will be taken earlier than September.
