Sofia Airport Customs Bust 1500 kg of Hookah Tobacco

Customs officers at Sofia Airport have seized 1500 kg of hookah tobacco, according to a Wednesday media statement of the Customs Agency.
The shipment arrived in Bulgaria from the United Arab Emirates and was declared as containing hookah charcoal.
However, lab tests confirmed that the product was hookah tobacco.
The authorities issued a customs infringement notice to a 24-year-old Bulgarian national from the Black Sea city of Burgas for his attempt to evade VAT and customs duty to the amount of BGN 227 710.
