Bulgarian Workers Most Abundant in Spain, Greece

Spain, Greece, the UK and Cyprus are the EU countries with the largest numbers of residing Bulgarian workers, according to Bulgarian media.

A total of 172 634 Bulgarians currently live in Spain, according to official data cited by the Bulgarian Monitor daily.

The paper has pointed out that Bulgarians are expected to turn to the German labor market, as a number of labor market restrictions were lifted by the German state in the beginning of 2012.

Approximately 75 000 Bulgarians live in Germany, according to official figures.

It was recently revealed that the net sum of the remittances from Bulgarians permanently working abroad totaled EUR 773.9 M during last year.
