A special alpine unit of the Bulgarian Army has joined preparations for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup round in Bansko, February 18-19 and 25-26.

The Bulgarian Army's Alpine Battalion was especially invited by the Bulgarian Ski Federation to help, announced the Ministry of Defense Tuesday.

40 Alpine Battalion service persons from units in Plovdiv and Smolyan have joined in the efforts to prepare the event.

Before that, the special army unit had helped in the preparation for the upcoming European Skiing Cup run in Pamporovo.

Next weekend, Bulgaria's Bansko will host the men's giant slalom and slalom, and the weekend after - women's downhill and supergiant slalom.
