Bulgaria is fully committed to implementing the South Stream natural gas pipeline jointly with Russia, said Bulgarian Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov following his trip to Moscow.

"We remain in South Stream, it is a very promising project," said Djankov in an interview for the Bulgarian National TV Thursday.

Monday-Wednesday Djankov was in the Russian capital, together with Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy Traicho Traikov and Minister of Transport Ivaylo Moskovski.

The visit took place immediately after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Sunday jaunt to Sofia, where important energy matters were also discussed.

Tuesday the Bulgarian ministers discussed with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko the joint Bulgarian-Russian energy projects, including South Stream and Belene NPP.

"Lack of news on Belene NPP is good news," quipped the Bulgarian Minister of Finance in the interview Thursday.

He clarified that the two parties had an entirely "good-willed" conversation on the topic, and are currently executing a "thorough analysis" of the various aspects of the project.

According to Djankov, the main topic of the visit to Moscow was ongoing plans for additional easing of the visa regime between Bulgaria and Russia.
