Bulgarian Telegram Discloses Birthday of North Korea's New Chief

The birthday of North Korea's new state chief Kim Jong-un is January 8, a telegram sent to him from the Association for Friendship between Bulgaria and North Korea has revealed.

Referring to the telegram apparently sent by North Korea's friends in Bulgaria to the successor of the communist dynasty who took over after the recent death of his father Kim Jong-il, North Korean media have announced for the first time that the mysterious Kim Jong-un was born on January 8.

This has been reported by the Russian agency ITAR-TASS from Tokyo, citing Radio-Press, a Japanese service dealing with analysis of North Korean TV and radio programs.

ITAR-TASS points out that the new leader of North Korea is believed to be 29 but some experts from South Korea believe that the Communist Party in the North is to announce that Kim Jong-un is turning 30 because the round number has symbolic meaning as in 2012 North Korea is marking the 70th birthday of the previous dictator, Kim Jong-il, who died in December 2011 at 69, and the 100th birthday of his father, Kim Il-sung.
