People Perish in Stranded Cruise Ship off Italy

Some people have died in the sea accident in which a large cruise ship ran aground off the coast of Tuscany, Italy.

According to the various sources, the number of people who died varies between 3 and 8.

Around ten people are reported missing, while some thirty have been injured.

It is not clear how people perished, but according to reports some passengers panicked and tried to swiftly flee the ship when it got stranded in the shallows.

The large Costa Concordia cruise ship was carrying around 3,200 passengers and 1,023 crew members on board, who are at present being evacuated.

According to reports, upon running aground near the Tuscany island Gilio, the cruise ship tilted to one side after water poured in due to a small hole caused by the accident.

But reports also say that there is no risk of sinking.
