US Republican presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney, has scored a solid victory in New Hampshire's primary.

With most of the votes counted, the former Massachusetts governor secured 38% of the vote for the Republican presidential nomination. This is Romney's second victory, after he was declared the winner over Rick Santorum by the slimmest of margins in last week's Iowa caucuses.

Texas Congressman, Ron Paul, is second with about 24% and former Utah Governor and former Ambassador to China, Jon Huntsman, is third with 17%.

Former House Speaker, Newt Gingrich, and former Pennsylvania Senator Santorum share the fourth ranking with 10% each, while Rick Perry had under 1% of the vote.

The eventual nominee will challenge President Barack Obama in November.

The next primary will be held in South Carolina on January 21.

Primaries and caucuses will be held in every US state over the next few months to choose a Republican candidate before the eventual winner is crowned at the party convention in August.
