A woman, 49, died and a man has been injured after an explosion in a company for the utilization of munitions in the village of Charkovo, near the city of Gabrovo in central Bulgaria.

The incident occurred around 8 am Wednesday morning while the two were handling some explosions. According to the Interior Ministry's press center there is no danger of new blasts.

The woman died on the spot; the man was listed in the local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The two were alone inside the space where the explosion occurred - the woman had been handling gunpowder, which exploded in her hands.

Experts on detonations are examining the location, which is in the woods, far away from the city. The private company has foreign shareholders.

This is the second incident with explosions in the last two days – three workers were injured Tuesday by an explosion at VMZ Sopot, Bulgaria's largest military factory.
