Emergency situation over heavy snow fall and inclement weather is still in effect Wednesday for three Bulgarian municipalities – Teteven, Smolyan and Roman.

The news was reported by the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR, citing the press office of the Interior Ministry.

The situation in the municipality of Chepelare in the Rhodoppe Mountains remains critical, but the emergency situation has been lifted.

Rescue operations for those blocked by the snow have concluded – everyone had been taken to a safe place, and there are no injured or harmed people.

Efforts to clean roads and restore electric power supply are continuing in the regions of Sofia, Lovech, Pazardzhik, and Smolyan.

Most locations now have electric power, except about 850 customers in the country, mainly in areas with difficult access for emergency teams, which are working round-the-clock. It is expected that power supply will be fully restored by the end of the day.

Water supply in the municipality of Roman in northwestern Bulgaria has been restored.

However, some villages and towns in the area of Teteven, in the central Balkan mountain range, are without electricity for the sixth consecutive day, with the local Mayor telling BNR the situation is on the brink of civil arrest.
