2 Criminals Attack Sofia Policeman with Clubs

A policeman had been thrashed with clubs and seriously injured overnight in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

The attack happened on Bulgaria boulevard after a fender-bender between two vehicles.

The conflict started when a Volkswagen Golf cut-off in front of an SUV. Two men came out of the latter and attacked the driver of the Golf with clubs. It turned out later that he was an off-duty police officer, traveling in his personal vehicle.

Police have arrested the two assailants - a father and a son, both with long rap sheets. One of them even had a sentence for murder.

The injured policeman is listed in the hospital with numerous fractures.
