Even though Manchester United's Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov has been assured that he is needed at Old Trafford, he has admitted that he has a hard time when he is not on the field.

"As a professional, I want to play in every game so I need to exploit all chances so no one can doubt my work," Berbatov has told The Sun.

"My worst moments are when I know the starting XI and I am not on the list," the forward has commented.

Berbatov, who scored the impressive 6 goals in his last three Man Utd games, is determined to fight for his place in the club's starting XI despite recently slipping down the pecking order.

The Bulgarian has revealed that some clubs have been indeed interested in signing him. "But last summer, I was told by United that they need me - and that was good enough for me," he has added.

Berbatov has further declared that his challenge is to play, score goals and to help the team get more victories.

Earlier this week, Sir Alex Ferguson officially confirmed that the prolific striker's contract will be extended by 12 months.
