Ivan Andonov, one of Bulgaria's most influential actors and movie directors passed away on Friday at the age of 77.

Andonov graduated from the Theatrical Academy in Sofia 1956 and started his career as an actor. Since 1965, he has been a director, his debut in features being "Difficult Love" (1974).

Ivan Andonov has directed some of the most emblematic Bulgarian movies, including Vchera ("Yesterday", 1988), "Opasen char" ("Dangerous Charm", 1984), "Adio, Rio" (1988) and "Ladies Choice" (1980).

The famous director has received numerous international awards for his works, including the Grand Prix in Chianchiano, the Special Prize of the Jury in Chamrousse, France, the Grand Prix in San Remo, Italy, and the Best Director Award in Moscow.

Andonov, whose comedies and dramas are loved by several generations of Bulgarians, was also an artist with several exhebitions.
