Traffic on Bulgaria's main road arteries is heavy Monday evening, at the end of the second day of Christmas.

Columns have formed on the Trakiya Highway from Burgas and Plovdiv, as well as on the Hemus Highway coming from the north.

Many Bulgarians have decided to travel to relatives or places of birth during the three days off around Christmas, and are now returning to their jobs.

Traffic on the E-79 road, the main international road from Greece to Bulgaria and Romania, is also heavy, report police authorities.

Many Greek and other European tourists have visited Bulgaria over the Christmas holidays.

After a brief 4-day work week, Bulgarians have in store another 3-days' weekend around New Year's, as January 2 has also been officially declared a day off.
