Bulgaria and Turkey consider coming up with a joint candidacy for the European Volleyball Championship in 2015.

The two countries have not decided yet whether they prefer to host the men's or the women's championship, but they are considering both options, president of the Turkish Volleyball Federation Erol Unan has told the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.

Sofia will host the final match if the championship is for men, while the final clash will take place in Turkey if the two countries end up co-hosting the Euro cup for ladies, dnevnik.bg reports.

Besides the newly built Arena Armeets sports hall in Sofia, Bulgaria can provide two suitable volleyball arenas, in the town of Samokov and the city of Varna, even though the one in Varna has to be repaired.

Turkey hosted the European Volleyball Championship form men fairly recently – in 2009 – which makes it more probable for the two Balkan states to seek a joint bid for the women's tournament.

Bulgaria hosted the European Volleyball Championship for women in 2001. The country will host the FIBV World League final round in July 2012.
