Bulgaria's Stoichkov to Promote Great Wall Cars - Report

Bulgaria's most successful football player in history, Hristo Stoichkov, may be hired to promote the products of Chinese Great Wall Motor Co, it has been reported.

Besides promoting the Chinese car manufacturer in Europe, the former Barcelona striker will also coach the Bulgarian football club of Litex Lovech, according to the Standart daily.

Litex Lovech president Trifon Popov has refused to comment on the legendary player's alleged appointment as coach of his team.

At the beginning of December, it was announced that Hristo Stoichkov will not continue in his role as an advisor with the Russian club of Rostov. The former forward has had a rather unconvincing coaching career over the recent years.

Bulgarian company Litex Motors and the Chinese Great Wall Motor Co recently opened a brand-new car factory in the town of Lovech. The factory aims at selling 2 000 vehicles in 2012.

On November 14, Litex Motors and Great Wall Motors unveiled their first vehicle assembled in the plant near the northern Bulgarian city of Lovech, 16 years after Bulgaria's last failed attempt at car manufacturing.

The Litex Motors factory will formally be inaugurated at the beginning of 2012, featuring the latest top-notch equipment for car manufacturing.

Great Wall Motor Company, one of China's biggest automotive manufacturers, signed a joint venture (JV) deal with Bulgarian diversified holding company Litex Commerce in the presence of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at the end of 2009.
