Bulgaria is an example that should be followed by many other EU member states when it comes to stability, the country's President-elect Rosen Plevneliev has declared.

"Bulgarians have endorsed the culture of stability. It should be implanted in the heads of 500 million Europeans," Plevneliev stated during a discussion in the Bulgarian Parliament dedicated to the Lisbon treaty.

"Europe has been living in tough times for four years now. These times prompt responsible, adequate and difficult decisions. We can calmly and clearly say that rules were not abided to during the past years," Plevneliev commented, referring to the EU member states than ended up in a severe debt crisis.

"Little Bulgaria, which can be easily given as an example to all our European friends and partners, succeeded in reducing its debt over the last decade," the President-elect pointed out.

The responsible behavior of the last several governments has resulted in the country being fiscally stable while others are still struggling to introduce stability, Plevneliev believes. He considers stability and firmness to be the "magic words" describing the Bulgarian model.
