Kokinov Awarded 2nd Term as Sofia City Prosecutor

Nikolay Kokinov was elected Sofia City Prosecutor for a second-term in office during Thursday's session of the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS).

Kokinov was backed by 15 VSS members, Sofia Regional Prosecutor Alexander Nalbantov got 8 votes and investigating magistrate Boyko Atanasov one.

Kokinov's bid was supported by Chief Prosecutor Boris Velchev and by Tsoni Tsonev, Chair of the Ethical Committee at VSS, with both of them qualifying his first term in office as successful.

The only one to question the productivity of Kokinov's stint as Sofia City Prosecutor was Nestor Nestorov, who backed his stance with the large number of acquittals and cases returned for further investigation.
