IKEA Bulgaria has received the first Investment of the Year award of Forbes Bulgaria at a special ceremony.

In September 2011, the Greek Fourlis Group / House Market, which holds IKEA franchise rights, opened the first IKEA store in Bulgaria in the capital Sofia, an investment estimated at over EUR 50 M.

The Forbes award was bestowed to IKEA store Manager Teo Mouratidis by Bulgarian Economy Minister Traicho Traikov.

"This award is a proof that IKEA Bulgaria has realized successfully its vision to make each day better for the people, and will keep working on that. IKEA believes in the perspectives for the development of the Bulgarian market, and will continue to invest not only in company development but also in the improvement of products and services," the manager said.

The Forbes Bulgaria awards were handed for the first time Thursday night in nine categories, with the nominees and winners being picked out by an eight-member jury, the goal of the organizers being to stimulate good business practices in Bulgaria.
