Bulgaria Busts 13 Illegal Immigrants from Iraq, Syria

Bulgaria's Border Police captured a total of thirteen illegal immigrants from Syria and Iraq late on Monday, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry has informed.

The immigrants were detected by special night vision devices.

First, three individuals were caught on Monday close to the Southeastern Bulgarian town of Malko Tarnovo, which is located near the country's Turkish border.

Later, a total of 7 immigrants aged between 13 and 38 were apprehended in the same region. The 10 detained immigrants had no documents and claimed they were Syrian citizens.

Bulgaria's border authorities contacted their Turkish colleagues, who busted 6 more people on their country's territory.

After 10 pm on Monday, three more immigrants were caught by Bulgaria's Border Police near the town of Svilengrad. The men, who were arrested using thermal vision cameras, claimed to be Iraqi citizens.
