Overgas Sees 12% Y/Y Increase in Gas Sales in Eastern Bulgaria

Overgas Iztok AD, the gas distribution subsidiary of Bulgaria's biggest private natural gas supplier, has registered a 12% year-on-year increase in sales for the period January 01-October 31.

Overgaz Iztok AD, which supplies natural gas to consumers in Burgas, Novi Pazar, Yambol, Stara Zagora, Nova Zagora and Karnobat and a part of Varna, boosted sales volumes from 6.5 to 7.3 million cubic meters of natural gas.

The biggest hike was reported in the industry segment, where sales went up by 13% to 6 million cubic meters.

The household segment posted an 11% growth to 338 000 cubic meters, while public and administrative buildings bought 6% more, or 938 000 cubic meters.

The main contributors for the upward trend were industrial customers in Varna and Stara Zagora, with spike of close to 50% in natural gas consumption for the period.

Overgas Iztok AD's results for October 2011 are also positive, with a 4% year-on-year increase in natural gas consumption in the industry segment, a 3% growth in household consumption rates and an unchanged rate of consumption for administrative and public buildings.
