The two bombers who committed a deadly terror attack in a subway station in Belorussia's capital Minsk in April were sentenced to death on Wednesday.

Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov were found guilty of detonating an explosive device at a subway station on April 11, RIA Novosti informs. The blast killed 15 and injured more than 200 people.

The Belarusian court decided that the actions of the two bombers were extremely dangerous for society and the country as a whole. According to prosecutors, the two were guided by hatred for mankind.

The two men were also convicted of a string of violent attacks prior to the subway tragedy.

Once the verdict is confirmed by President Alexander Lukashenko, Konovalov and Kovalyov will be executed by a firing squad. Belarus is the only European country that still employs the death penalty.
