Bulgaria, India Ink Sci-tech Cooperation Program

Bulgaria and India agreed upon a two-year bilateral program for cooperation in science and technology on Tuesday in New Delhi.

The document was signed by Bulgarian Education Minister Sergey Ignatov and his Indian counterpart Vilasrao Deshmukh, the Bulgarian Parliament's press office has announced.

The newly signed program foresees a deepened cooperation between the two countries in the fields of food technologies, traditional medicine and biotechnologies.

Deshmukh pointed out that his country has advanced significantly in its space research over the past few years, as well as in its information and communication technologies and pharmacy. He stated that increasing investments in education and science is a top priority for his government.

There is a very serious potential for active cooperation between Bulgaria and India in the sphere of science, Deshmukh declared.

According to Ignatov, the document signed on Tuesday is in line with Bulgaria's strategy to establish science and technologies as key priorities.
