Valeri Bojinov, Bulgaria's top football player, who recently joined Sporting Lisbon, but made headlines rather thanks to his marriage to a sexy playmate, has been voted among the biggest transfer disappointments in Portugal this year.
Benfica left-back Joan Capdevila, Rodrigo Mora (Benfica), Argentina International Juan Manuel Iturbe, Belgian International and FC Porto midfielder Steven Defour and Luis Aguilar (Sporting) also made it into the unflattering ranking, compiled by the readers of the Portuguese sports newspaper "Record".
Portuguese giants Sporting completed in July the signing of Parma's unsettled Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov.
The Bulgarian international signed a five-year contract with Sporting after the two clubs agreed on a EUR 2.6 M bid for 80% of the player's economic rights. The fee could rise to EUR 3.5 M depending upon the club's performances.
The 25-year-old, who has also played for Fiorentina, Juventus and Manchester City, wears the number seven shirt for the Lisbon side.
Bojinov hit recently the front pages of Bulgarian tabloids after deciding to marry in between two matches of the national team, at a time when it was in desperate need of at least one face-saving victory, raising many eye brows.
The players from the team were banned from attending the wedding, even though they were accommodated at the very same hotel that the newly weds picked for the happy occasion.
Lozanova has gained the reputation of a promiscuous and dominant lady, who has been calling the shots after Bojinov was transferred to Sporting Lisbon.
The couple is expecting their first child.
