Bulgaria's conservative Order, Law and Justice party (RZS) vows, in the aftermath of October local and presidential elections, to turn from radical to constructive and effective opposition.

Speaking for the Bulgarian National Television, BNT, party leader, Yane Yanev, said that unlike other politicians, the conservatives had no hesitations about their endorsement in elections runoff.

Yanev explained RZS have chosen the right-wing nomination of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party (GERB) over the total unfeasibility as conservatives to back a nomination of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), more so because it was supported by the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS).

The RZS leader pointed out national interests must become priority now, thus the conservatives have decided to convert to constructive opposition, propose needed legislative initiatives and step up, through parliamentary tools, the fight against corruption.

"We further have a number of proposals for budget 2012. We believe in mass layoffs and reductions in State administration and in parasite structures such as regional administrations where there are several secretaries, department heads and directors," Yanev said.

According to him, there is nothing strange for conservatives and right-wing parties to have common causes for the benefit of the nation, however, he vowed to remain critical towards GERB.

The RZS leader declined stating if the party would back budget 2012, saying conservative leadership must first meet with Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov.
