210 persons have been detained in Polish capital Warsaw overnight after celebrations of Poland's independence Friday turned violent, after rightist extremists clashed with leftists.

92 of the people detained are citizens of Germany. Some 40 policemen have been injured in the clashes, which erupted after police forces tried to prevent leftists attacking rightists.

The largest event among the 23 held in Warsof for Independence Day Friday was a 10,000-strong traditional March of Independence, organized by Polish radical nationalists.

On November 11 Poland marks its 1918 Independence after the end of World War I, which temporarily ended centuries of partitions of the country among Prussia, Russia and Austria.
