Yordanka Fandakova, the recently reelected Mayor of Bulgaria's capital Sofia, has officially presented her proposals for the city's 24 District Mayors, half of whom are to be newly appointed.

By substituting half of the District Mayors, Bulgaria's ruling centrist-right GERB party shows it is willing to take the whole responsibility for Sofia's future development, Fandakova pointed out on Thursday.

Only one of the 24 District Mayors proposed is not from GERB - Kremikovtsi's Ivaylo Panev, who is a member of the right-wing Union of Democratic Forces.

The 24 District Mayors proposed by Fandakova are now to be officially approved by the city's municipal council, in which her GERB party has a majority of 33 municipal councilors form a total of 61.

On October 23, incumbent runner Fandakova was reelected as Mayor of Sofia, as she gathered approximately 53% of all ballots.

Fandakova and Sofia's municipal council members took the oath of office on Tuesday, November 8.
