Frenchman Appointed as Commercial Proxy of Sofia Water Utility

The Board of Directors of Sofiyska Voda, the water supply utility in the Bulgarian capital, has approved the new appointment of Jean Salessy as General Commercial Proxy of Sofiyska Voda AD.

Salessy has a 30-year experience in institutional development, technical and financial management of water supply companies. His expertise is in the public-private partnership projects in Portugal, Australia, and China, Sofiyska Voda said in a statement.

"The main priorities of the company remain the same: further improvement of customer care, closer cooperation with the Municipality of Sofia in terms of the investment program for new sewers, implementation of innovative "green" solutions and increase in the efficiency of debt collection," the utility declared.

"The change will support the full integration of Sofiyska Voda in the European family of Veolia Water in order to transform it into a more efficient and modern water supply company through the rich international professional experience of the new General Commercial Proxy – Mr. Jean Salessy. The one-year anniversary of Veolia Water's presence in the WSS sector in Sofia is marked by this decisive change," it added.

Sofiyska Voda (i.e. "Sofia Water") is the municipal comany that provides running water to Bulgaria's capital Sofia. In the second half of 2010, Sofiyska Voda granted on concession to French-based international water company Veolia Environment.
