The opposition, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is going to demand a recall of the results of the October 23 presidential elections and October 30 runoff.

The move was announced by party leader and former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, during the Tuesday meeting of the party's leadership and the following briefing at the BSP headquarters in Sofia.

The left wing is launching consultations to collect signatures to file a claim with the Constitutional Council to contest the legality of the elections for the country's Head of State.

According to official runoff results, 47-year-old Rosen Plevneliev, former Regional Minister and candidate of the ruling center-right party GERB, won with 52.58% of the votes cast. His opponent from the Bulgarian Socialist Party Ivaylo Kalfin lost by a relatively narrow margin – he got 47.2% of the vote.
