After months of preparation, the Al Jazeera Balkans network is set to kick in Friday from a head office based in Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital Sarajevo.

The Qatari news network, which until now has had programs in only Arabic and English, will widen its linguistic range to feature news and reports in the languages stemming from Serbo-Croatian.

Additional offices are set to open in neighboring capitals, such as Croatia's Zagreb, Serbia's Belgrade, Macedonia's Skopje, Montenegro's Podgorica, as well as in Istanbul, Turkey.

Local journalists have been hired from the area, with veteran Croatian journalist Goran Millic to head the branch.

The programing policy is set to include no comments and personal opinions on the part of journalists, limiting itsef to objective reporting instead.

The investment in equipment that Al Jazeera has made in its Balkan network amounts to USD 10 M.
