Bulgaria's Unemployment Rate Up 0.7 pp in Q3 Y/Y

Bulgaria's unemployment rate has reached 10.2% in the third quarter of 2011, according to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute.

Thus, it saw an increase of 0.7% compared with the same period of 2010; the number of unemployed persons in Bulgaria has reached 342 800, or 16 200 more unemployed compared with July-September 2010.

At the same time, in the third quarter of 2011, Bulgaria's unemployment rate has declined by 1.0 pp (27 000 fewer unemployed) compared with the second quarter of 2011.

In the third quarter of 2011, 3.317 million people aged between 15 and 64 were "economically active" in Bulgaria, which is 66.7% of the population in the respective age category; the economically active population has declined by 69 000, or 0.4 pp compared to the third quarter of 2010.

The employed persons in Bulgaria aged 15-64 were 2.975 million in July-September 2011, according to NSI.
