Bulgaria's former deputy Culture Minister, Todor Chobanov, who was fired by PM Boyko Borisov two weeks ago, has been appointed as an advisor by Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traicho Traikov.

At his new post, Chobanov will be responsible for increasing the popularity of Bulgaria's cultural and historical tourism, it was announced Thursday.

Chobanov is experienced in the fields of cultural and historical heritage, the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism has said in a statement concerning his appointment.

In October, Borisov fired Chobanov from the Culture Ministry, explaining that he wanted a "faster pace of work."

"Whoever is not capable of keeping up with the work pace I want to see will be dismissed," the Prime Minister declared at that occasion.
