Renewable energy systems built with funding from the European Union will sell energy at preferential prices, according to proposed amendments to the Ordinance on Regulation of Electricity Prices.

The proposal is yet to be tabled for public discussion at the headquarters of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).

In order to prevent cases of double subsidization of renewable energy systems, a division was included in the Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources Act between projects implemented solely with own capital and land and ones using public financing.

The energy watchdog did not set purchase prices for this type of facilities with the introduction of the preferential rates from July 01.

Another proposal which will be brought to DKEVR for consideration envisages the introduction of a 5% ceiling on the surcharge levied by power distributors and the National Electricity Company (NEK) on electricity prices.

Under the draft amendments, non-recoverable expenses of NEK recognized by the watchdog will be added to transmission prices.
