Bulgarian Customs agents have detained a female Bulgaria citizen with 2 kilos of opium, valued at BGN 10 000.
The woman, 44, has been traveling on a bus from Turkey to Bulgaria. During a routine check at the border cross point Capitan Andreevo, the agents found in her purse two packages with black, resinous substance. The test showed it was opium.
She told authorities that she went to Turkey on a leisure and shopping trip and ran into an acquaintance, who asked her to take the packages to Bulgaria as a favor. He assured her the content was harmful herbs.
The woman, however, failed to give any reasonable explanation as of why she failed to declare the packages and why they were hidden under the lining of her purse.
