All members of voting polls' electoral commissions will receive BGN 10 more on top of their regular pay Sunday, the day when the runoff of presidential and local elections is held in Bulgaria.

The news was announced Friday by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, saying that the additional money will motivate people to, if needed, wait overnight to submit the ballots and the protocols, and will allow them to buy themselves food.

According to a September decision of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC,) the voting polls commissions members are being paid as follows: BGN 62 for the chair, BGN 58 for the secretary and BGN 55 for all others.

The same wages, plus the additional BGN 10 will be given for participating in the runoff. The move was triggered by many saying they would not show up over having to wait all night outside, in the cold or sleeping on bags filled with ballots, and without food after the closing of the polls on October 23.

In addition, in the aftermath of the outrage, CEC decided to give another BGN 60 to those who were stranded waiting to submit ballots and protocols.
